Status

A western U.S. species that has spread east across the continent since the 1950s. Interestingly, it was introduced to Europe in 1999 and is now common there.

Description

Compare Leaf-footed Pine Seed Bug. Dull reddish brown overall with alternating pattern of dark and white along rear of abdomen. Note shape of tibia dilation (about equal on outer and inner). Antennae roughly as long as the rest of its body.

Where To Find

Feeds on conifers during spring and summer. Often seeks shelter around buildings in late fall and winter.

Relies on coniferous trees.
