Description

Cap: Alternating concentric rings of tan/dull orange; convex when young with inrolled margin to funnel-shaped in age; slightly viscid; flesh whitish/buff, thick, firm; latex white, slowly stains gills dark. Gills: Pinkish-buff, close, some forks near stalk. Stalk: White, dry, stout; stuffed or hollow (J. Solem, pers. comm.).

Where To Find

Scattered, groups on group in deciduous woods, primarily oak and hickory.
