Status

The only member of its genus in North America, it is found throughout the South and the East, as well as in Hawaii and parts of East Asia, Africa, and Australia. In Maryland, this species is "a widespread tropical and subtropical species occasionally found as a late seasonal migrant or vagrant as far north as southeastern Canada, although it may not permanently breed north of the subtropics" (Glaser, MicroMoths).
