Status

Uncommon (formerly rare) but rapidly increasing visitor to the coastal plain, especially Worcester County, from spring to fall. Rare visitors elsewhere in the state in spring and during the late summer and fall post-breeding dispersal period. Almost certain to soon be documented nesting in the state. First pair documented nesting in Maryland at Martin NWR in June 2020 (S. Miller, D. Irons, J. Irons, J. Hutchison)!
