Status

Our national bird is a great success story. Removed from the federal endangered species list in 2007 and from the Maryland list of threatened and endangered species in 2010, the species is now fully recovered and is easily found near large waterways and along the Chesapeake Bay. Found year-round in Maryland.

Where To Find

Blackwater NWR, Conowingo Dam

Relationships

Fish are a mainstay of the Bald Eagle's diet, but will take a wide variety of prey species from ducks to muskrats. Will scavenge at roadkill.
