Native to E Asia (Korea, ne China, Japan, Russian Far East), adventive in our area.
Description
Similar to P. bifasciatus, but elytra with numerous, longer spiky erect scales (in P. bifasciatus, scales are hair-like, not flattened, inconspicous and distinctly shorter than interval width)
In P. obesus, the elytra are widest behind middle (pear-shaped); in P. bifasciatus, widest at basal third to middle. (BugGuide)
