Status

Palamedes Swallowtails are highly state rare (S1) and are considered endangered in Maryland. Confined to the coastal plain, Palamedes Swallowtails are rare breeders in southern Worcester County where their host plant reaches its northern limits. Palamedes Swallowtails occasionally wander north up the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River.

Relationships

In Maryland, the host plant for the Palamedes Swallowtail is Swamp Bay (Persea palustris).
